About the founder

Azhar Mohammed

Azhar Mohammed is the founder of TheLegalAdviser.in and the advocate behind Mr Attorney. He brings together three disciplines: an engineering degree, a management education from the United Kingdom, and a law degree with practice before the High Court in India.

Before law, he built a strong career in information technology. That background shapes how he works today: clear written advice, organised documentation, and video consultations that make it practical for clients in the USA, UK, Gulf and Australia to run matters in India without travelling.

Legal services for NRIs and clients in India

Indian legal matters for residents and NRIs, immigration guidance, and technology-related work drawn from his IT background.

Property & NRI Matters

Transfer of Property Act, 1882 · Registration Act, 1908 · RERA, 2016

Property in India is often the largest asset an NRI family holds, and the hardest to watch from abroad. Mr Azhar protects, buys, sells and recovers property for owners who live overseas, so the work moves forward without repeated trips home.

  • Title verification and 30-year encumbrance search before you buy or inherit
  • Power of Attorney drafted for signing at an Indian consulate or by apostille, then registered in India
  • Sale deeds, gift deeds and agreements of sale drafted, reviewed and registered
  • Encroachment and illegal possession: notices, injunction suits and recovery of possession
  • Tenant disputes: rent agreements, unpaid rent and eviction
  • Builder delays: RERA complaints for refunds, interest and possession
  • Partition of family property, and mutation in land and municipal records

Suited to: NRIs and OCI holders owning or inheriting property in India, and home buyers dealing with builders.

Immigration & Visas

Visas · OCI · Indian passports · Attestation and apostille

A visa application is only as strong as its documents. Mr Azhar guides individuals, students, families and employers through the paperwork for moving between India and the USA, UK, Gulf and Australia, and prepares the Indian legal documents that applications depend on.

  • USA: guidance on work, student, visitor and family visa documentation
  • United Kingdom: Skilled Worker, student, visitor and spouse visa paperwork
  • Gulf: employment and residence visas, and family sponsorship documents
  • Australia: skilled, student and partner visa documentation
  • OCI cards: new applications, renewals and corrections
  • Indian passports: renewal, Tatkal, name or address change, and police clearance certificates
  • Supporting documents: affidavits, marriage registration, birth certificate corrections, MEA attestation and apostille

Suited to: students, professionals, families and employers planning a move, and Indians abroad who need documents from India.

Family & Matrimonial

Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 · Special Marriage Act, 1954 · Muslim personal law · Guardians and Wards Act, 1890

Family disputes are personal and, for couples split across countries, legally complicated. Mr Azhar handles these matters with discretion and plans for how an Indian order will be used abroad.

  • Divorce by mutual consent, with video appearance where the court allows it
  • Contested divorce, judicial separation and restitution of conjugal rights
  • Child custody and guardianship, including disputes when one parent lives abroad
  • Maintenance and alimony claims and defence
  • Recognition in India of foreign divorce decrees and custody orders
  • Domestic violence and dowry matters, for complainants and the accused
  • Marriage registration and prenuptial-style agreements

Suited to: spouses in India or abroad, including NRI marriages and cross-border custody cases.

Wills, Succession & Probate

Indian Succession Act, 1925 · Hindu Succession Act, 1956 · Muslim law of inheritance

Plan the passing of your assets in India so your family is spared delays. When a family member dies, Mr Azhar handles the court and paperwork steps that move land, shares and deposits to the rightful heirs.

  • Wills drafted and registered, including wills for NRIs with assets in India
  • Succession certificates for bank deposits, shares and debts
  • Probate and letters of administration before the High Court or district court
  • Legal heir certificates and family settlement deeds
  • Transfer of inherited assets: land mutation, share transmission, bank and pension claims
  • Inheritance disputes and challenges to the validity of a will

Suited to: families planning ahead, and heirs in India or abroad claiming inherited assets.

Technology & IT Law

Information Technology Act, 2000 · Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 · Indian Contract Act, 1872

With years in the IT industry before law, Mr Azhar reads a software contract the way an engineer does as well as a lawyer. Technology companies and IT professionals get advice grounded in how the work is really delivered.

  • Software, SaaS and IT services agreements: drafting, review and negotiation
  • Data protection compliance under the DPDP Act: privacy policies, consent and data processing terms
  • Cyber fraud and online scams: complaints, bank recovery steps and cyber cell follow-up
  • Employment terms for IT staff: NDAs, non-solicit clauses and IP assignment
  • Website terms and policies for startups and online businesses
  • Outsourcing contracts between Indian vendors and clients in the USA, UK and Gulf

Suited to: startups, IT services firms, overseas clients of Indian vendors, and victims of online fraud.

Corporate, Civil & Criminal

Companies Act, 2013 · Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 · BNS and BNSS, 2023 · NI Act, 1881

From setting up an Indian company to defending a criminal case, Mr Azhar acts in district courts and before the High Court. NRIs facing proceedings in India get representation without having to be present at every hearing.

  • Company and LLP formation in India, including for foreign promoters
  • Commercial contracts, shareholder agreements and partnership deeds
  • Money recovery: legal notices, summary suits and execution of decrees
  • Cheque bounce cases under section 138 of the NI Act, for payees and the accused
  • Bail: anticipatory and regular bail, including for NRIs facing complaints in India
  • Look Out Circulars and passport impound matters
  • High Court writ petitions, quashing petitions and appeals

Suited to: businesses, investors and individuals in India and abroad with disputes or cases in Indian courts.

Common questions

Before you write to us

Do I need to travel to India for my case?

Usually not. Many matters proceed through a Power of Attorney holder and video hearings. If a step needs you in person, you will be told at the start.

What does a Foreign Legal Consultant do in the USA?

A Foreign Legal Consultant advises clients in the USA on the law of their home jurisdiction. Mr Azhar advises on Indian law. US law questions are referred to a US-licensed attorney.

I live in Dubai or Saudi Arabia. Can you handle my case in India?

Yes. Clients in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain sign a Power of Attorney at the Indian embassy or consulate, and the matter runs in India with updates by WhatsApp, email and video call.

Can you help with both my Indian matter and my visa?

Yes. Many clients need both, for example property or marriage documents in India for a visa application abroad. Both are handled together.

How are fees charged and paid?

Fees are quoted in writing after reviewing your documents, per stage or per appearance. Clients abroad can pay by international bank transfer.
